Motorists who are stopped for speeding in a school zone can get hit with a fine between $172 and $724.
In Portland, the back-to-school speed patrols will continue every weekday for the next two weeks, with officers from all three precincts, the Traffic Division, the Transit Police Division, and Youth Services Division participating.
Officers will also enforce parking laws in and around school zones as well as red flashing light violations around school buses. Officers will conduct the patrols during the morning commute during lunch around Portland's high schools , and during the afternoon
